Michael F. Rustermier Jr. age 81 of Lincoln passed away July 14, 2018 at Bryan East Medical Center, Lincoln. Mike was born October 11, 1936 in Lincoln to Michael Sr. and Ilene (Johnson) Rustermier. He also has a younger sister, Patty Jo (Rustermier) Lawson. Mike grew up in Lincoln and graduated from Lincoln Northeast where he played drums in the marching band.
Mike married the love of his life Linda Jo (Kempkes) Rustermier and they lived their life in Lincoln. He was a M.P. in the United State Army for a short time and Lincoln Firefighter for 29 years. On his days off and after he retired, he worked for a time at Wyuka Cemetery and then at Lincoln Memorial Park Cemetery and Funeral Home and also drove a taxi.
Mike is survived by his wife of 53 years Linda and his children, Shelley (Jessie) Gibson, Steve Rustermier, Brad (Cathy) Rustermier. Also by his grandchildren, Ashley Turek, Andrew Bump, Burgandie Coy, Dravin Rustermier, Hyette Rustermier, Jeonna Rustermier, Adam Rustermier, and Ahna Rustermier. Mike also enjoyed his great grandchildren, Ethan Turek, Riley Turek, Norah Bump, Kendyl Bump, and Marlowe Bump, and his loving sister-in-law Jeanne Aspedon. And we cannot forget his loving dog, Lucy. Mike is preceded in death by his parents and son, Jeffrey Rustermier.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Thursday, July 19, 2018 at Lakeview United Methodist Church, 230 Capitol Beach Blvd., Lincoln with Rev. Ray Norris officiating. Interment will be in Lincoln Memorial Park Cemetery with full military honors. Visitation will be 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Wednesday at Trump Funeral Services, 1600 West “O” Street, Lincoln and one hour before services Thursday at the church.
