Darlene Kay Tharnish (‘nee Cooper) passed away March 28, 2023. She was preceded in death by her husband of 41 years, Alfred Leo Tharnish, her parents, George Ray Cooper and Martha Hazel Cooper (‘nee Keller), her sister, Shirley Anne Crom (‘nee Cooper), and 5 brothers: Robert Cooper, Jack Cooper, George Cooper, James Cooper, William Cooper, and grandson Zachary Tharnish.
Darlene is survived by 10 children: Theresa (Dave) Hewitt, Laura (James) Sauer, Michael (ShaRon) Tharnish, Glenn (Chrystal) Tharnish, Alan (Nimfa) Tharnish, Pamela Tharnish, Michele (Bert) Wattier, Bernard Tharnish, Edwin Tharnish, and Loretta Jo Tharnish. She had 23 grandchildren and 57 great-grandchildren with two on the way.
Darlene was zealously active in her ministry as one of Jehovah’s Witnesses and attended the Airpark Congregation in Lincoln, Nebraska. She worked at Elgin Watch Factory in Lincoln, Nebraska, and Sherwood Medical in Norfolk, Nebraska. Darlene and Alfred moved to Polk, Nebraska, briefly before returning to Randolph, Nebraska, until his death in 1995. She was living in Lincoln, Nebraska, with her daughter Pamela at the time of her death.
Memorial services will be 2 p.m. on Saturday, April 15, 2023, at the Airpark Congregation Kingdom Hall, 3601 North 1st Street, Lincoln, Nebraska. I am so sorry to hear about aunt Darlene. Such a wonderful, kind and thoughtful lady. Always a smile and a kind word. She will be deeply missed. Sending prayers and thoughts to the family during this time.
