Dennis Dean Borgman, age 74 years, Denton, passed away October 27, 2021 in Lincoln. He was born December 5, 1946 in Denton to Earl and Irma (Skula) Borgman. Dennis graduated from Lincoln High School in 1965 then entered into the military as a firefighter for the Nebraska Air Guard for 6 years, for serving this nation he received the Quilt of Valor. After his honorable discharge, he returned to Denton to continue his passion for the cattle and farming career. Along with this career he spent nights working as a mechanic for International Harvestor.
On November 19, 1974, he married Donna Nohavec and into this marriage came 2 children, Peggy and Nick. Dennis’ next investment was purchasing a 1976 Mack cabover along with a reefer trailer, developing into a 2 truck operationn called Borgman Trucking. Dennis was involved in the trucking business many years to include owner/operator for N.S.G., hauling clydesdale horses across the United States. Dennis hauled crude oil, swinging meat and worked for Levi Trucking hauling milk into Meadow Gold.
As medical conditions continued to be a burden, he was forced to retire from trucking. Dennis was never one to sit back so retirement was not really in his cards. He then enjoyed working for High Plains, driving trucks, sheeps-foot, hauling and moving dirt. Dennis always found time to attend his children and grandchildren’s activities.
In the winter, Dennis and Donna were on a shuffleboard team and played in many tournaments, he thoroughly enjoyed this. Any free time was always spent playing cards, his favorite was pitch, he loved Nebraska football and volleyball and being outdoors.
Survivors include his wife of 44 years Donna of Denton, daughter Peggy Kosinski (fiance Doug Vanderloop) of Grand Island, son Nick Borgman (significant other Kirby Shifflett) Denton, grandkids Katie and Derek Eastman, great grandson Kason of Gresham, grandsons Cody Kosinski of Grand Island, Carson Borgman of Denton, Brody Borgman of Denton, granddaughters Evelyn Borgman of Denton, Sydney Thompson of Denton, sister Jackie Harral and extended family of Denton. Special prayers for Jeff Borgman and family. Although not mentioned as family, no less remembered in our thoughts and prayers.
Denny was a schoolmate of mine at old District 101 East. He was a cheerful, fun kid and I liked him a lot. A highlight of those years was when he gave me a ride home from school on his Shetland pony Mitzi, who had spent the school day in the school barn. I am glad he had a good life. My condolences to Denny’s family and friends.
Dennis brought many smiles and feelings of joy to those who knew him. He was amazing in so many ways that words cannot describe. “Denny” will always be remembered for his kind and generous heart, patience, boldness, wisdom, work ethic, and playful nature. He was a role model that gave all that knew him a special gift that we have wings to fly. A great husband, dad, grandfather, friend, and an ordinary man turned into a hero. Rest well our friend and love and peace to the Borgman family.
