Merle was so valuable to our Sons of the American Revolution (SAR) Lincoln Chapter. Merle always had good suggestions for any issue. He served as president, secretary and treasurer. He also led in getting Eagle Scouts to apply for the $500.00 scholarship for the State Society and was responsible or the endowment funds to continually support the Eagle Scout Scholarship. We will miss his advice and companionship.
I have had the pleasure of knowing Merle since joining the Sons
of Union Veterans of the CW. His leadership, dedication, and personal
commitment to the Son’s projections and goals were unsurpassed. I
did much appreciate his mentorship at my early attempts as Shiloh Camp #2
Commander. He helped with his Sec. role to keep the Camp on track as leading the State of NE and SD as past Dept. Commander.-Memo to members from current Commander well documents his achievements. I Memorial Day ceremonies will never be the same.
I knew of his pending med issues, but now he will be truly missed as a friend and
co-SUV member. Condolences to Arlene and the children.
