Daniel “Dan” Fagan, 58, of Lincoln, Nebraska, passed away peacefully at his home on Wednesday, February 11, 2026, surrounded by family and friends. He leaves behind a legacy of laughter, generosity, storytelling, and unwavering love for his family.
Dan was born on June 26, 1967, in Lincoln, Nebraska, to Donald and Ellie (Hartsook) Fagan. He graduated from Waverly High School, where he was actively involved in band, FFA, 4-H, VICA (now SkillsUSA), and Plymouth Troubleshooting Contests, earning the opportunity to compete at the national level. On April 8, 1989, he married Jodi Ross. They shared 36 years of marriage filled with partnership, dedication, and devotion to their family.
Dan dedicated much of his professional life to his work as a bus mechanic for Lincoln Public Schools, where he served for approximately 20 years after his time at Performance Dodge, where he was certified to work on Vipers. He believed deeply in hard work and personal accountability. Even during his eight-year battle with cancer, he rarely missed a day of work, demonstrating remarkable strength and determination.
Above all, Dan’s greatest pride was his family. He was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather who treasured every moment spent with his children and grandchildren. He enjoyed working in his shop, attending NHRA drag racing events, participating in tractor pulling, and supporting his family in all their pursuits.
As his sons grew up, Dan helped coach their Little League, YMCA Flag Football, and trap. In later years, he worked closely with his son Dustin to build and race a 1957 Chevy pickup. He also partnered with his son, Dillon, to rebuild antique tractors, which they proudly pulled together in competition. One of his greatest joys was building a custom garden tractor for his grandson, Ryder, who has competed in tractor pulls for the past two years.
Dan is survived by his wife, Jodi Fagan of Lincoln; his sons, Dustin Fagan (Hannah) of Waverly and Dillon Fagan (McKenzie) of Lincoln; and his beloved grandchildren, Ryder Fagan, Addison Fagan, and Nora Fagan. He is also survived by his sisters, Deanne Hansen; Lynnee Thiemann (Kevin); and Karryn Glendenning (Earnest); and his aunt Darlene Piening of Lincoln, along with many cousins, nieces, great-nieces, and great-nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Donald and Ellie Fagan, his uncle, Donald Piening; and his brothers-in-law, Kenneth Hansen and Scott Borgmann.
A graveside funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, February 18, 2026, at Fairview Cemetery, 8400 Adams Street, Lincoln, Nebraska 68507. A luncheon will follow at Isles Reception Hall, 6232 Havelock Avenue, Lincoln, Nebraska 68507. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to SkillsUSA’s Keep Craft Alive fund or to the family. Condolences may be left at trumpmemorials.com. Trump Funeral Services, 1600 West “O” Street, Lincoln.

Dan was an extremely hard working student for me. He won the automotive contest in Skills (VICA) his senior year and then competed at The National contest in Miami, Fl. He was was a member of the state winning Plymouth Troubleshooting contest team that went on to compete in the National contest in Kansas City. After graduation he applied for and was hired by Gotfredson’s Plymouth Dealership. He went on to be an excellent technician at several dealerships, LPS bus garage and in whatever he did. He became like a brother to me and helped me with many of my projects!! Dan never showed any type of negative attitude, only a happy grin and something funny to make any irritation go away. He will be deeply missed by his family and everyone he ever helped or came in contact with. Condolences to his family and My God Bless!!
So sorry for your loss. prayers to his family and friends.
So sorry for your loss, Dan was a great friend and fun guy to work with. It was always nice running into him at car shows or swap meets.
He will be missed but never forgotten by many.
