Dorothy M. McKee, age 86, Lincoln, passed away February 11, 2020. She was born July 4, 1933 in Lincoln to Elton and Ellen (Eddie) Converse. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Joseph, and son, Gregory, brothers, Don, Ray and sister, Norma. Dorothy was a graduate of Lincoln Northeast High School in 1951 where she was a synchronized swimmer. She worked as a roller skating car-hop at Tastee Inn during high school. Dorothy went to Wesleyan University for a year before she and Joe got married. She was member of the Phi Mu Sorority. She worked at the Elgin Watch Factory, now Nebraska Hall, and owned the Crystal House Store in the early 1980’s.
Dorothy was a loving mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. She enjoyed all kinds of sports and supported her children in all of their activities. She enjoyed watching her grandsons in sports, music, and theater events and was very proud of her granddaughters and all of their accomplishments. Dorothy and Joe visited the girls and Lisa as much as they could in Pennsylvania, they loved to travel. They went on many General Electric and Home Builder trips. Dorothy loved the trips to Washington D.C. in the spring where she and Joanie Peterson would spend most of the time at the Smithsonian museums. Her favorite vacation place was Hawaii.
She is survived by her son, Michael (Carol), daughter, Lisa (Qaiser) McKee, grandchildren, Brian (Brittany), Adam (Kendra), Cory, Natasha (Vince), and Jessica (Josh), great grandchildren, Micah, Julian, Willa, and Calvin, brother, Ron (Susan) Converse, sister-in-law, Ruth Converse, Nieces and Nephews, brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law.
Memorial services will be held at 10:30 a.m., Friday, March 6, 2020 at First United Methodist Church, 2723 North 50th Street, Lincoln with Pastor Kirstie Jeanette Engel officiating. Graveside services will be at 2:30 p.m., Friday, March 6, 2020 at Lincoln Memorial Park Cemetery, 6700 South 14th Street, Lincoln, family and friends will meet at Gate #2 prior to services.
