Justin Patton Northrup was born to Anne Winther (Schaffer) and the late Patton E. Northrup III and in Norfolk, NE on December 28, 1976. He grew up in Logan, UT and moved to Crawfordsville, IN where he made incredible lifelong friends and graduated high school. He then worked in Lincoln, NE for his aunt and uncle, Bob and Vicki Northrup, in their business when he found his passion. He chose to study at The Chef’s Academy in Indianapolis, IN and spent most of his career spreading joy through the incredible meals he created at several fantastic restaurants in Omaha and Lincoln, NE including The Grey Plume, Wilderness Ridge and the Venue. He loved the energy and the comradery with his colleagues in the “back of the house” and had a knack at making people laugh and built strong friendships wherever he went. He even met the love of his life, Brittany Northrup (Goerl) at work and they were married June 24, 2017.
Justin enjoyed the outdoors. Whether it was gardening, fishing, camping, golfing or going on walks with his dogs, Mabel and Murray, he loved being out in nature! Along with his passion of cooking came the passion of growing and finding the best ingredients for his edible creations. He loved talking to and working with local farmers to serve the freshest and most delicious food possible.
Justin is survived by Brittany; his mother; his sisters, Lori O’Keefe and Pam (Brian) Otten; his nieces and nephews McKenna, Anniston, Callahan, Madigan, Brennan, Watson, Delaney, Stella, Brogan, Gabriel and Cecilia; many aunts and uncles and cousins; and especially numerous strong and amazing friends. He is preceded in death by his father; his uncle, Don Dederman; and his grandparents, Art and Marjorie Schaffer and Pat and Polly Northrup.
Justin is still greatly loved always!
