Christine “Chris” Michael, age 60, of Lincoln, Nebraska passed away on August 23, 2022 at her home after a courageous battle with cancer.
Chris was born on December 17, 1961 in Dallas, Texas. She was the youngest of five children born to James and Martha Walling. She graduated from Lewisville High School in 1980 and joined the Navy where she met Tim Michael, her husband of 41 years. After she was discharged from the military, they had two daughters and were stationed across the country. Following Tim’s retirement from the Navy in 1995, they settled in Lincoln, Nebraska. The family expanded in 2002 with the addition of a son.
Chris loved spending time with her family and friends, reading, and watching animal tv shows. She was an animal lover and always took in took dogs and cats that needed a forever home.
She is survived by her husband, Tim Michael; daughters Nicole Castner (Travis) and Brandie Michael; son Robbie Michael; grandchildren Olivia Castner, Miles Castner, and PJ Shavlik; siblings Will Walling (Brenda), Janet Erm (Donald), Debbie Lynch (Steve), and Connie Kendall (Scott); nieces and nephews; and special friends Bev and Sara Baines. Chris was preceded in death by her parents.
Celebration of Life Services will be held on Wednesday, August 31st, at 1 pm at the Lincoln Firefighter’s Reception Hall, 241 Victory Lane, Lincoln. Chris was such a joy to work with at TCA. She was so proud of her family and she shared so many stories with me. She always had a good word and never complained despite all the extra work during the height of the pandemic and even during her illness. I will miss chatting with Chris. You were truly blessed to have her in your family and made her a very proud mama.
I enjoyed working with Chris at TCA over the last 3 years. She had a huge heart and loved her family. She will be greatly missed! Blessings to the family.
