Marilyn Adeene (Wehrmann) Mathis was born on September 27th, 1932 to Louis and Laura (Neumann) Wehrmann in rural Wabash, NE. She grew up in rural Murdock, NE. At the age of 14 she started playing the organ in church. She graduated from Murdock High School in 1950.  Marilyn moved to Lincoln and worked at First National Bank while Ray was in the service. On June 1st, 1952 they were married at Trinity Lutheran Church in rural Murdock, NE. They had two daughters, Shelley born in 1954 and Linda born in 1959.

Life in the 60’s was centered around her family. Camping trips, vacations, and visiting her parents every Sunday on the farm.  Marilyn started working for Dr. Byron Tullis D.D.S. and became his office manager for many years.  Marilyn and Ray worked for the event staff for UNL sporting events and Saltdogs baseball games. She played the organ for Faith Lutheran Church for over 20 years. While doing that, she also filled in playing weddings and funerals in several area churches.

Marilyn loved playing bridge and was active in several bridge groups. Great excitement occurred when Linda’s family visited from Minnesota. You could count on a comical, intense game of Wizard. When all the family was together, UNO was the game of choice.  Marilyn loved following her grandchildren Anne, Kelly, Amanda, Amy and Dustin, and great grandchildren Joshua, Alexis, Liam and Emma with all their activities. She traveled to all ends of the country cheering them on.  Later in life, due to Parkinson’s her activities were very limited, causing her to stay home instead of being out and about.

She is survived by daughters and sons-in-law, Shelley (Greg) Kurtzer, Lincoln, Linda (Gordie) Edmison, Mayer, MN; Grandchildren, spouses, Anne (Matt) Duchek, Lincoln, Kelly (Jeremy) Dawson, Omaha, Amanda (Tony) Schwanke, Glencoe, MN, Amy Edmison, Mayer, MN, Dustin Edmison, Mayer, MN; Great Grandchildren, Joshua & Alexis Dawson, Omaha, Emma & Liam Duchek, Lincoln; Nieces, Nephews, and other relatives.
