He married the love of his life, Tami, on September 15, 2001.  In their 23 years together, they lived a fun life filled with things they both enjoyed – bowling, Husker football, stockcar racing, and karaoke.  They were blessed with a son, Kaden, in 2002 and a daughter, Lani, in 2004.

Steve was an avid Husker fan who wore his foam hat on game day and was known to toss that foam brick at the tv along with a few choice words when the Huskers weren’t winning.  He loved to bowl and was quite good at it, having won rings for bowling a perfect 300 game and a 298 game among many of his high scores. When he sang karaoke, his song of choice was “Chattahoochee” by Alan Jackson. Stockcar racing was something that Steve enjoyed for many years, including three seasons that he competed himself as a driver of a compact class car.  He loved cheering on his favorite drivers and spending race nights at the track with his family.

Besides his family, his most prized possession was his black ’67 Camaro, passed on to him by his father.  He won numerous awards at local car shows and loved to take it out for a drive.

He is survived by his wife, Tami (Lyons) Niederhaus, his son, Kaden Niederhaus (Vilencia Pierce) and his daughter, Lani Niederhaus (Dominic Miller), mother and stepfather, Betty and Mike Peterson, sister Angie Niederhaus, aunt Darlene Miller, uncle Tim Niederhaus, all of Lincoln, NE.  Surviving in-laws are Patty and Duane Schaneman of Torrington, WY, and Bruce and Kim Lyons of Scottsbluff, NE, Tori and Chad Young of Omaha, NE.
