William Leo “Bill” Brummond, 86, of South Sioux City, passed away Sunday, May 25, 2025, at home after a brief illness. Per his wishes the body will be cremated. Burial will be in the Pender, Nebraska, Cemetery, near his parents and many other family members. To celebrate his life, a graveside memorial service will be held on June 14, 2025 at 10:30 am in the Rosehill Cemetery in Pender, with a lunch following in the Pender Community Center. Bill would want all in attendance to dress very casually.
William Leo Brummond was born on July 8, 1938, in South Sioux City, Nebraska, to Jack and Nellie Brummond. His mother died when Bill was 9 years old. At a young age he joined Curl Amusement Company of South Sioux City Nebraska, and traveled with the carnival for a few seasons.
Bill Proudly Served in the United States Air Force from 1957 until 1961, stationed at Kadena Air Force Base in Okinawa. After the Air Force, Bill operated a Sinclair Service Station in Aurora, Colorado. He started working for IBP in Dakota City, NE during construction before their opening in 1966; after the plant opened he worked on the line in the Kill Floor and later moving to work a Maintenance crew working there a total of 16 years. Bill had a junk yard and would sell car parts and scrap iron; he also made a smelt to melt aluminum into ingots which he would sell in Kansas City. He started his own business repairing cars and was a mechanic for many years before retiring.
Bill was a Nebraska Huskers Football fan and loved going to dirt track races, he was very fond of his grandchildren and great grandchildren and enjoyed spending as much time with them as he could.
Bill is survived by his wife, Bev; his children: Lori Carver, Dennis Johnson and Shari Stork; grandchildren: Jeremy (Nichole) Miller, Brandon (Terra) Miller, Danielle Carver, Randi Carver, and Trenton Stork; great grandchildren: Alex Andersen, Brianna Carver, Kyler Stork, Lucas Miller, Olivia Stork, and Carter Stork.
He was preceded in death by his parents; son Randy Miller; sister Mabel (Leonard) Stimson; Brothers Richard Judd, Robert “Bob” Brummond, James “Jim” Brummond, Donald Brummond, and Eugene “Gene” Leonard.
