I always looked forward to visits with Uncle Roger! He was an original thinker and his wry humor livened up many a conversation around the table. He was a hard and conscientious worker and devoted to his country. He will be greatly missed!
Spending time with Roger was always a pleasure. It was so special when his visits to the west coast to visit his daughter Cynde, included a diner together at our house. Those evenings included wonderful stories shared by Roger and an abundance of laughter shared by all. We are so fortunate to have had the opportunity to know and care for this interesting, entertaining proud veteran and loving father.
I will miss Roger greatly! I was able to visit him when he was placed in a hospice facility and got in on Governor Jim Pillens visit to present Roger with a medal and certificate for his military service. We became close friends in the short 5 years I knew him. We had many things in common, both of us were medics in the service, him in the Navy/Marines and me in the Army. We were like thinkers and both loved our God and country. He was always so interesting to be with as he had many amazing stories. I especially enjoyed his wittiness and humor. Our loss is heavens gain. My prayers for comfort and healing to all his family and friends.
Roger was my wife Mary Lou Thomazin O’Gorman- deceased Sept 2022 (parents Bill & Gen Thomazin- Sioux City) 1st cousin. Many good memories of our visits, especially the Thomazin family reunions he arranged.
