Susan Marie (Irons) Douglass, age 73, died September 1, 2025 in her home. She was born in Lincoln to John Irons and Ruth Tally. Susie lived in Lincoln most of her life. Susie had her daughter Angie in 1981, and was thrilled to be a mom. She married Michael L. Susie’s faith was very important to her. She spent years serving in different local churches and had a passion for Jesus that inspired many. She was involved in AA and celebrated 48 years at her last AA birthday. She was also an active member of Al-anon just celebrating 8 years last month. She loved golf and went on yearly golfing trips with her friends from the Telephone Company. She played Bridge, Pinochle and a variety of other card games. She was always a good sport enjoying the games regardless of winning or losing. Lately she’s enjoyed doing puzzles with her granddaughter Zenny and getting her grandkids Zenny and Nolan together. Susie has a special and individual relationship with each of her grandchildren, whether it involved overnights, fruit snacks and prayers or taking the kids who were ready to drive to get their permits or license. She attended football, bowling, baseball, driving, volleyball and many more activities we can’t think of.

Susan was a remarkable person. My brother Mike was lucky to have found her. She was thoughtful, genuine, sincere and loyal. She was the anchor my brother needed when he struggled with his health. I’ve been recalling the times we spent together since finding out about her passing. I could bare my soul to her. She never passed judgement. She was like a sister to me. I wish I would have stayed more in touch with her. What a treasure she was. I will miss her and that intoxicating laugh of hers.
Suzie was a wonderful person he was kind to everyone and non-judgmental. She was a friend of mine in our early sobriety years and I’m sorry that we lost track of each other. My condolences to her family. I’m sure she was a great mom and grandma.
