Jeanette Edna Mack, 81, passed away peacefully on Thursday, December 4, 2025, in McCool Junction, Nebraska, surrounded by her family. Born on September 3, 1944, in Sciota, Pennsylvania, she was the daughter of the late Frank and Lulu (Holdorff) Bardonnex and the youngest of eight children.

After the loss of her father when she was only two, Jeanette moved with her family to Brooklyn, New York, where she grew up. She cherished the summers she spent back in Pennsylvania with her sisters and their families. In June of 1965, she married her childhood sweetheart, James Scheerer, and together they welcomed two children, James and Janine. After their marriage ended, she met the love of her life, Allan D. Mack, in New York. They moved to Nebraska and were married on November 11, 1977, sharing 42 years of devoted marriage before Allan’s passing on November 22, 2019.

Over the course of her life, Jeanette worked in a variety of roles, each reflecting her strong work ethic and dedication. She was employed by the New York Telephone Company, American Express Travelers’ Checks, served as a nurse’s aide, worked at Dale Electronics, and even worked as a flag person during the expansion of Highway 81. Above all, she took pride in being a devoted wife, mother, and homemaker.

Jeanette had a big heart, especially for children and animals. She loved crafting, baking cakes for special occasions, sewing seat cushions for the littlest learners at school, and creating costumes for her grandchildren. Her hands were always busy, and her love was always visible in the things she made.

She is survived by her children, James (Sandy) Scheerer of Jamestown, NC, and Janine Scheerer-Hamm of McCool Junction, NE; her grandchildren Ashley (Ben) Alps and Josh Scheerer of North Carolina, AJ (Mataia) Scheerer-Hamm, JT (Naomi) Scheerer-Hamm, and Tori (Ethan) Thorne of McCool Junction, NE; and her great- grandchildren Brynnlee and Lynkyn Scheerer-Hamm, Zayden Riner, Tiny, Kaesyn and Knoxtyn Scheerer-Hamm, all of McCool Junction, NE. She is also survived by many nieces, nephews, cousins, numerous extended family members and friends, and her beloved companions, Lillie the dog and Paco the bird.

Jeanette was preceded in death by her husband Allan, her parents; her stepfather, Tom Christiansen; her sisters Francis Borger (Sterling), Marie Frable (Carl), Geraldine Houck (Harry), and Grace Scura (George); and her brothers Frank Bardonnex (Marie and Lou), Robert “Bud” Bardonnex (Laura), and Norman Bardonnex (Evelyn).

A private service will be held for family and close friends, as was her wish. Jeanette will be remembered for her warmth, creativity, strength, and unwavering love for her family. Her presence will be deeply missed, and her memory will forever be cherished.
