Darlene Mae (Weilage) Heusinkvelt, 82, of Martell, passed away Sunday, March 12, 2017, at Independence House in Lincoln. She was born July 24, 1934, to Raymond and Mamie Weilage. She was the oldest of two children. Upon completion of high school, Darlene graduated from the Poppe Accordion school in Fremont, NE. After graduating Darlene taught accordion lessons at Dietze Music in Lincoln. On May 28, 1953, Darlene married Orval Heusinkvelt. To their union four children were born; Dan, Ken, Loyd, and Roger. After several years of teaching accordion lessons, Darlene worked as a bookkeeper at Bentzinger Grain and Equipment in Martell. Most of her time was spent with Orval by her side. She truly loved fishing, family, gardening and watching her grandchildren and great grandchildren’s ball games. And you better believe, she never forgot to send birthday cards to family!
Darlene was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Orval and brother, Ray “Bud” Weilage. She is survived by sons and spouses, Dan and Mona, Ken and Maria, Loyd, and Roger and Karen; 33 grandchildren and spouses; 39 great-grandchildren; and brother-in-law and spouse Lynn and Leila Heusinkvelt; sister-in-law, Lucile Heusinkvelt.
Celebration of life services will be held at 11 AM on Friday, March 17th at the Sprague Community Church in Sprague, NE. Memorials to the Sprague Community Church or in care of the family. Condolences may be left at trumpmemorials.com. Services will be handled by Trump Funeral Services, 1600 West “O” Street, Lincoln.

Darlene was a special lady and she was one of my favorite people growing up in the Sprague/Martell Community. My thoughts and prayers go out to all of the boys and their families!
Darlene was a wonderful person. She was totally dedicated to her family. Love just radiated around her, especially when she was with her kids and grandchildren. I have such fond memories of her and Orv. I’m glad they are back together again. I’m sorry I won’t be able to make it back for the funeral, but I will keep the rest of the family in my thoughts and prayers.
