Robert G. Haeffner was born December 28, 1939 in Lincoln, Nebraska. He was the second oldest son of Raymond and Leta (Wendeln) Haeffner. He attended District 48 County School then later graduated from Burr High School in 1958.
Robert joined the U.S. Air Force right out of high school. He served from 1958-1962 and finished in Albuquerque, New Mexico. Following the U.S. Air Force he worked at Control Data, American Stores, and worked until retiring at Lincoln Public Schools.
Robert met Mary Helen Lopez in Albuquerque, New Mexico during his time in the U.S. Air Force. They married in September of 1962. They spent eight wonderful years together before starting a family. Their first son Michael was born in 1970 and their second son Kevin followed shortley thereafter in 1972. They raised their family in Lincoln at their home on Connie Road.
Robert was a free-spirited nature man who loved the outdoors. He had a passion for hunting and fishing; his greatest love was his family. Robert’s world would light up when he saw his grandchildren and great granddaughter. They filled him with so much joy. Robert’s indoor passions were watching football and NASCAR.
Robert is survived by his wife Mary Helen, son, Kevin (Amy) Haeffner, daughter-in-law, Jacque Haeffner, grandchildren; Brandon, McKenzie, Axl and Tatum, great grand daughter, Lydia, Lincoln. Siblings; Bill (Marlene) Haeffner, Burr, NE, Jack (Eleanor) Haeffner, Lincoln, Joyce (Neil) Bentzinger, Cook, NE, Judy (Gary) Smith, Lincoln, sister-in-laws; Barbara (Richard) Otero, Amelia (Nick) Gonzales, Albuquerque, NM. He is preceded in death by his parents Raymond and Leta, and son Michael Haeffner.
Mass of Christian Burial: Friday, October 12, 2018, at 11 am, Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church, 1720 Lake Street, Lincoln. A private interment service will be held at Yankee Hill Cemetery, Lincoln. Condolences may be left at trumpmemorials.com. Trump Funeral Services, 1600 West “O” Street, Lincoln are handling the arrangements.
