Betty Jane (Znamenacek) Luers, age 76 Lincoln, formerly Crete, passed away Friday, December 16 at the Homestead Rehabilitation Center in Lincoln.

            She was born August 27, 1940 on the family farm near Crete. Betty married John Luers on August 18, 1961 at the Grace Methodist Church. One daughter, Donna Sue H Luers was born December 3, 1962. She passed away at birth. Betty attended and graduated from Big Blue Country School and Crete High School. She worked in the Crete Formfit factory for 23 years, Hardee’s restaurant, 5 years, and Crete Medical Center, 7 years. She loved taking care of animals on their farm. She had two pet poodles and a Chihuahua named Baby Doll. Betty loved to travel. She visited her brother and sisters in Loveland, Colorado and Soldotna, Alaska. She enjoyed bus tours traveling in several states. Her hobbies included cooking, sewing, embroidery and latch hook projects.

            Betty is survived by brothers, sisters and spouses, Elaine and Marvin Wheeler, Soldotna, Alaska, Karel and Linda Znamenacek, Richard and Suzie Znamenacek, all of Lincoln, Eugene Znamenacek, Lorraine and Larry Rerucha, all of Loveland, Colorado, Melvin and Carol Znamenacek, Crete, Robert Znamenacek, Wilber and Arlene Kerst of Crete, nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by daughter Donna Sue H Luers, parents Karel and Millie Znamenacek.

            Pallbearers will be Betty’s nephews. Services will be held at 10:30 am, Wednesday at the Bethlehem Lutheran Church, 805 Hawthorne Avenue, Crete. Memorials to Bethlehem Lutheran Church.
