Marion Josephine “Jo” (Wolfrey) Bade was born September 27,1936 to Robert and Ada (Nesselrode) Wolfrey in Strasburg, Virginia. She passed away October 12, 2025 in Lincoln, Nebraska. She spent her childhood and much of her adult life living in Virginia. She graduated from Edinburgh, Virginia High School. After graduation she entered the workforce and for many years she worked at Electric Services in Arlington, Virginia.
On June 5, 1970, she married Robert L. Bade in Virginia. Jo and Bob lived for many years in Warrenton, VA, raising Bob’s sons and enjoying her niece Tonia. In 1990, Bob and Jo moved to Lincoln, Nebraska to be near Bob’s sons and their growing families. After the move, Jo worked at Union Bank and Trust in Lincoln until her retirement. When she wasn’t working, she was enjoying her family, her dog BJ, her flowers and her home.
Jo is survived by her beloved niece Tonia Wolfrey (Billy) Smith, Louisburg, North Carolina, Tonia’s children Billy, Brooke Speed (Ryan), Blake and Tonia’s 4 grandchildren. Nephew Chuck Wolfrey (Dawn) of Virginia. Stepsons Bob Bade (Karen) of Lincoln, Scott Johns (Della) of Lincoln, Steve Bade (Sue) Bartley, NE. Grandchildren Stephanie Anderson (Gordon), Nicole Bade Kerchal (Tyrel), Katherine Bade Schutte (Tom), Matthew Bade (Anna), Sean Bade, Alicia Bade, Tyler Johns, Blake Johns; 22 great grandchildren, 1 great great granddaughter. Special Friends Andrea and Craig Behrend, Deb Johns.
Preceded in death by Husband Robert, Parents Robert and Ada, Brothers Harris “Rooster” Wolfrey and Manuel Wolfrey, sister Margaret “Peggy” (Wolfrey) Hollar, Great grandson Joseph Bade and niece Terri Wolfrey.
Graveside services will be held Thursday, October 16, 2025 at 3:00 p.m. at Holland Cemetery, Holland, Nebraska. Family and friends will meet at the cemetery prior to services. All my best Jo. You lived a wonderful life, doing it your way. Your grandkids loved you so much and even though they were sad, they were so glad to get up to see you one last time.
