Frank Eugene Kohout, (or Butch as he was also known as by his four siblings and their families), age 86, Lincoln, NE passed away May 8, 2020 at his home in Lincoln surrounded by his family.  He was born and raised in Schuyler, NE.  He had four brothers and one sister.  He graduated from Schuyler High School in 1951.  After that he enlisted in the U.S. Navy and served four years during the Korean War.  Upon returning from the Navy he moved to Lincoln and attended barber college.  He began his career as a barber in 1957.  On May 14, 1960 he was united in marriage to Edith Christiansen, also of Schuyler, and a good friend of his little sister.  They wasted no time starting a family and had four children by 1966.  In 1967 he opened West Gate Barbers on West “O” Street where he barbered until his retirement in 1995.  The most important things to Frank were his family and his faith.  Frank had a love for nature which included fishing and hunting or simply taking a drive out to the lakes.  He loved his country and was honored to be a veteran.  He enjoyed his wife’s home cooking and loved his sweets.  He remained close to his siblings throughout his life.  He loved his children dearly and was a proud grandpa to his grandkids and great grandkids.  The idea of a perfect evening for him was a good dinner at home and playing cards or games with his family.  He enjoyed sports and was an avid Husker fan.  Frank was a kind, loving man with a good sense of humor.  If you knew Frank, you knew he loved to talk, he asked many questions and was genuinely interested in what you had to say.  He seemed to make “new” friends wherever he went.  He was a devoted Catholic and had a strong faith.  His bright smile and cheerful heart will be missed by all who knew him.
