Jessica L Bykerk, 46, died Tuesday, February 7, 2023 at her home in Lincoln. Jessica Lynn (Hastings) Bykerk was born June 28, 1976 in Norwalk CA to Judy Hastings and Herbert Hastings. Jessica lived a short time in Texas until moving to Nebraska with her mother and sister Madelynn. She grew up in Bellwood and Schuyler attending school at both locations.
In 1993, her daughter Karleigh was born. She spent the next few years being the best mom to Karleigh. It was during this time that Jess decided to make her career in the Healthcare field. She loved taking care of and helping others and she took pride in doing what she did. In 1997 Jess was united into marriage to Yancy Bykerk and to this union a family was made with Karleigh and in the year 2000 their son Tanner was born.
Her heart was full of love especially for her children and grandchildren. Some of her hobbies were crocheting and basking in the sun, and she definitely had a green thumb like her grandmother. She cherished her grandmother Augusta (Gussie) Wilson. We can all agree the best days of her life were the days she got to spend with her grandchildren Grant and Ryan. She was the best Mimi that ever was! Jess was also a best friend to everyone. She definitely lit up the room when she walked in.
Left to cherish her memory are her mother Judy Hastings, daughter and son-in-law Karleigh and Adam MacDonald and their sons Grant and Ryan, son Tanner Bykerk, sister and brother-in-law Madelynn and Erik Johnson, niece Ryleigh, nephews Tyler, Kaden and Sebastian. Jessica is preceded in death by her father Herbert Hastings, grandparents Harry and Gussie Wilson and Carroll and Lois Hastings, and uncle Joe Wilson.
Celebration of Life Gathering will be held at 10:30 am to 1:00 pm, Saturday, February 18, 2023 at Peace Lutheran Church, 2720 28th Street, Columbus with a small luncheon afterwards to share memories of Jess. Condolences may be left at trumpmemorials.com. Trump Funeral Services, 1600 West “O” Street, Lincoln.

Jess walked into my life about two years ago. We instantly hit it off. We actually couldn’t be more opposite in every way. Our love for caring for seniors is what brought us together. Watching Jess with Seniors was like nothing I had ever witnessed. She could calm anyone. Everyone wanted her to care for them.
Jess always talked about the love she had for Karleigh and Tanner. Them grand babies were her world. We had so many great times, I had a lot of first after we met. We had so many plans to travel this year. We were going to work hard and reward ourselves with a quick trip somewhere. She loved just driving around and talking. Wherever we went, she lit up the room with her beauty and her outgoing personality. Jess knew no stranger. I thank God for her. I loved her dearly. I never met anyone like her. When she went home a part of me went with. I will treasure every moment we had together. I miss her so much. Love you Jessica, double time. Until we meet again.
Judy and family, so very sorry for your lose. Jessica was a wonderful person and I know she will be dearly missed.
My dear Jess, you were always so sweet. I will cherish the evening talks and sitting in the sun on the patio. You provided the best butterfly stitch. 😉 You always had a smile and kind words to share with me. We were neighbors and became friends. That time we spent talking will always be remembered. Your instant warmth and smile meant the world to me. I will forever treasure our friendship. Go fly high my friend. You are now in God’s arms. Until we meet again.
