Joan Marie Mundt, 74, of Lincoln, Nebraska, passed away peacefully in her sleep on Saturday, July 12, 2025.
Born on June 10, 1951, in Stromsburg, Nebraska, Joan lived a life centered around family, faith, and the simple joys of home. She was the heart of her family, a talented homemaker, and a woman whose warmth radiated through everything she did—from her famous homemade bread and canned tomato juice to the baby quilts she lovingly sewed.
Joan is survived by the love of her life, Garrett Mundt; daughters Lori Meyer (Scott) and Lisa Duffield (Dave); grandchildren Natasha Drake, Payton Partida (Matt), Jordan Drake, Dillon Duffield (Madolynn), Madalynn, McClain, Mallorie, and Emersyn Meyer. Great-grandchildren Gunner, Max, Atticus, Greyson, and Brooks. She is also survived by her siblings Terry (Karen), Jerry (Mick), Jean, and Jeff (Kevin) Dennis (Jonna) & Rodney (Diane) and lots of nieces and nephews.
She was greeted at the heavenly gates by her beloved daughter Shelli Drake; great-grandsons Rylan and Kyler; her parents Ruth and Farnum Schrader; and in-laws Don and Emily Mundt.
Joan’s love and legacy live on through every life she touched. She will be remembered for her generous heart, quiet strength, and the comfort she brought to others—whether through a warm meal, a stitched quilt, or her gentle presence.

Jo, i was undecided if i was going to write anything, because I still can’t believe that you are gone. When i moved here 3 years ago and started working at McDonald’s, you were the first person i encountered. Your smile and the warmth of it drew me to you. Everyday was a joy and blessing to see and work with you cause i knew i would get my hug and a smile. When i flew home to bury my mom, when I came back, your smile was there to greet me. But your hugs became tighter, you knew i needed them. After they moved me to another store to work, you made it your business to come see me once a week to give me my hugs…Those hugs and smiles I’m going to miss tremendously. I will cherish the time i did have with you. People would always say that we have angels here on earth. I truly believe you were one of them. Take your rest. Until we meet again…Love you, Maria
Joan and I worked together for several years. After our job moved out of Lincoln we continued to stay in touch. She was an awesome friend. I have several fond memories of our friendship. She will surely be missed. She was an angel here on earth, and certainly will be in her heavenly home. Love you and will miss you!
