Crystal (“Crys”) Mach, age 79, passed away on January 12, 2026. Born on December 17, 1946 in Minneapolis, MN. Crys grew up in Lincoln and graduated from University of Nebraska at Lincoln. She was married to James (“Jim”) Mach and immediately moved to Vernheim, Germany during the Vietnam War. After returning, they lived in Norfolk, Holdrege, Garden City, KS; Minden, and then finally ended up in Lincoln. For over 57 years, she was the beloved wife of Jim, devoted mother to her two sons, Jeff and Eric, and a loving grandmother to her diverse set of grandchildren.
A devout Catholic, Crys’s faith was central to her life and guided her with quiet strength, kindness, and devotion to family. She will be remembered as a loving wife, mother, and grandmother whose warmth and care touched all who knew her. Crys was also a devoted community leader, participating in her parish church, PEO (including as President three times), multiple book and garden clubs, and many others. The Wellspring Pregnancy Center in Hastings was near and dear to her heart, as she voluntarily counseled expecting mothers for sixteen years, encouraging them to choose life.
Her cornerstones in life were her faith and family, which guided her with strength, grace, and purpose. She loved deeply and gave selflessly, leaving an example that will continue to inspire all who knew her. Her love and legacy live on through her family and the countless lives she touched.
She is survived by her husband, Jim Mach; her sons, Jeff and Eric; their wives Jane and Lisa; grandchildren Anton, Hannah, Allison, Grace, Emmett and Charlie; large extended family and many friends.
Eternal rest grant unto her, O Lord, and may perpetual light shine upon her.

My deepest sympathies and prayers of comfort to family and friends.
Crys has been one of my favorite best friends for fifty or more years. She was special in so many ways. She was a true woman of faith and of her convictions….. traits I have always admired. She loved her God and her family above all things and lived her life demonstrating it. I loved Crys’s laugh, her fun and witty personal traits. She and I always could “take up where we left off” over the years when we didn’t see each other often. Living in different places most of our friendship years, prevented time spent together in person. I will miss Crys so much. I’ll miss everything about our long friendship. Both Bob and I will miss Crys’s presence in this world, and will look forward to keep our communications with Jim and time spent with him.
Thoughts, prayers and hugs go out to the entire Mach family.
We will miss you so much. She was truly the most gracious and loving grandmother. Even though my time with her was short compared to most, she gave me enough love in those seven years to last a lifetime.
I will always credit her for the hundreds of prayers she lifted up for me while I was ill, prayers that played a huge role in why I am still here today. Because of her, I’m able to stand here now, celebrating the beautiful life she lived and continuing to grow within the beautiful family she created.
I have never seen so many people so eager to come up to me and tell me how much she loved me, and how faithfully she prayed for my healing. That love was real. It was constant. And it was powerful.
Now she rests in paradise forever. I can’t think of many people more deserving of eternal life and peace than Crys. I’m sure she’s up there right now, proudly bragging to everyone about how her two sons became such incredible men, about their beautiful and kind wives, and about how deeply proud she was of her grandchildren.
While we miss her more than words can say, we also cherish every moment we were blessed to spend with her. We love you, Crys. My deepest condolences to everyone who was touched by her presence in this life. Her life was truly one worth celebrating.
