Scot Allen Rutherford was born on November 6th, 1962, in Denison, Iowa, and very suddenly passed away on July 4th, 2023 in Lincoln, Nebraska at age 60. Survived by his mother, Donna, his two daughters, Vanessa and Jessica, and his two dogs, Bubba and Lacey. His father, Wayne, passed away around four years prior.
He was in the Nebraska Army National Guard, and most recently held the job of Controller at ArtFX. A very kind man, Scot always saw the best in everyone. He was always accepting of everyone, and loved his family dearly. He loved spending time with his family and friends. He’s so kind and loving. He loves listening to music, Nebraska Volleyball and Football, and watching new shows released on streaming services. He always tried to do everything for everyone. He wanted to make everyone around him happy all the time.
He’s such an incredibly amazing and special man, who would light up any room he walked into. He could walk into a bar knowing no one, and walk out at the end of the night with everyone exclaiming “Bye Scot”. He always tried to do the best for his daughter Vanessa, and did everything possible to make her happy. He loved joking with, making fun of, and arguing with his loved ones. It’s his way of showing how much he really truly cares about you. All of us love him so very much, and we all miss him dearly.
A Celebration of Life will be held Saturday, July 29, 2023 at 1:00 p.m. at the Crete V.F.W. Post #4959, 130 West 13th Street, Crete. Vanessa is asking everyone to wear red as it was Scot’s favorite color. All donations will go to Scot’s daughter’s future education at U.N.L. Condolences may be left at trumpmemorials.com. Trump Funeral Services, 1600 West “O” Street, Lincoln.
My condolences to his family and friends. I knew Scot through Wesleyan. He will be missed.
Scot and I were fraternity brothers. We had many great times when I was at Wesleyan and later as we would kid one another on social media. I will remember his laugh and his giving nature. See you on the other side, “Lumpy”.
Donna my heart is so heavy knowing your son Scott is no longer with us. He was difficulty the man that is noted in his obituary. His kind heart and love for all was just like his father . . Thoughts and prayers Donna for u and his daughters

I’m just seeing this and am so saddened! Scot andI worked together at Chamberlain and have remained friends through the years via FB and messenger. He was always joking and taking friendly jabs! He wished me a happy birthday in mid June. Now I see this. Condolences to the family and especially Vanessa! He was so proud of you!
