George Henry Johnson Jr. age 85 of Raymond passed away Sunday July 16th 2023, from his 2 year battle with cancer. George, known as Junie, to close family members he grew up with, was born on August 29th 1937 to George Henry Johnson Sr. and Gladys Dorothy Johnson (Haagensen) in West Lincoln. Unfortunately he would never have the chance to know his father who died 7 months later at the age of 27. He joined the Navy in 1954 at the age of 17, his mother Gladys not too happy about signing the papers because he was so young but he wanted to see different places. In 1959 a friend’s mother introduced him to a girl she worked with at St Elizabeth’s Hospital and on August 7th 1960 he married Twila Louise Proctor.
In 1961 they had the first of 4 children, Kim Johnson (partner Bryan Bartek of Ceresco Ne.), Sheryl (Osentoski, husband Pete of Murray Ne.), Mark (Wife Jennifer Rauscher of Seward Ne.), and John (Wife Hope Schmehl of Raymond Ne.) He was then blessed with 12 grandchildren, Mark David Lee Johnson (preceding him in death in August of 2010) Noah, Katelyn, and Rebecca Johnson. Toni (Heck, husband Josh) , Marshall and Emma Osentoski. Destiny Schmehl (O’Donnell husband Sean), Austin Siegl, Faith, Gianni, and Serenity Johnson. He also had 5 great grandchildren, Hayleigh and Zoey Heck, and triplets Oakleigh, Hayes and Leighton O’Donnell.
George spent most of his life working as a mechanic at Yant equipment and then Duncan aviation. He moved the family to Raymond Ne. in 1979 and after retiring in 1989 spent a lot of his time in the seat of his riding mower mowing, playing horseshoes in Raymond, or at the Ding Bar having a Old Milwaukee playing keno and shooting the breeze with friends. Thanks dad for all the life experiences you taught us kids. We love you. George will be missed by all.
Graveside services will be 10:30 a.m., Friday, July 21, 2023 at Oak Creek Cemetery, 3230 West Mill Road, Raymond. Condolences may be left at trumpmemorials.com. Trump Funeral Services, 1600 West “O” Street, Lincoln.
