Glenda Mae Simmons, age 81, September 30, 1939-October 17, 2020. Caring wife, mother and grandmother. Preceded in death by her husband Charles D. Simmons, parents Ivan and Lorna Harsh; Brother, Richard Harsh; Son, Mark Simmons. Survived by children Coleen Hansen (Richard) of Lincoln, Nebraska, Karen Nelson (Kim) of Lidgerwood, North Dakota, Wayne Simmons (Tammy) of Lincoln, Nebraska and numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren.

She grew up in Beatrice, Nebraska where her parents owned a bakery. As a teenager she ran a popcorn stand outside her parents’ bakery.  After high school she made the trip to Long Beach, California to help her Uncle at his bar during his time of need. During this time is when she met her husband Charles who was in the Navy. They made their home in the San Fernando Valley and had 4 children. Mark born in 1962, Coleen born in 1964, Karen born in 1965 and Wayne born in 1970. She attended Secretarial school and worked as a secretary most of her life. The family enjoyed time at the lake, camping, fishing and boating. She lost her husband in 1980. In 1984 she moved back to Lincoln, Nebraska with her son to help her brother Richard raise his two daughters Connie and Carmen. She spent numerous years taking care of her mother until her death in 1997. Her decision to retire was based on a need to help her son with watching his daughter. Glenda’s decisions in life were always based on helping others in need. 

Funeral Services will be Thursday, October 22, 2020 at 1:30 p.m., Trump Funeral Services, 1600 West “O” Street, Lincoln.  Visitation will be one hour before services at the funeral home.  Burial, Yankee Hill Cemetery, Lincoln.  Condolences may be left at trumpmemorials.com.  Trump Funeral Services, 1600 West “O” Street, Lincoln.
