Mick Erickson, 72, was born in Minneapolis, Minnesota August 24, 1951 to John and Regina Erickson. Mick grew up hunting, fishing, and exploring the wilderness in Northern Minnesota. He moved to Lincoln, Nebraska in 1969 and then met the love of his life, Barb Perry, when she was in nursing school at Lincoln General. On their first date, Mick drove his red opal car with his jon boat tied on top. Barb was hooked by his passion for life. They were married on June 28, 1975. They bought their first home in Lincoln from Great Grandpa and Great Grandma Perry and welcomed their daughter Katie in 1979. In 1980, they moved to their beloved acreage in Northwest Lincoln and welcomed their son Chad.
Mick filled his time with full-time work as an Electromechanical Tech, hobbies galore, and being a dad to two energetic kids growing up in the 80’s-90’s. He was not one to sleep in, he was usually up with the sun doing something outdoors. His talents included metal detecting, drawing, woodcarving, taxidermy, coin collecting, bowling, fishing, and water skiing. He loved Husker sporting events, deer and all other hunting seasons, caring for his acreage, telling jokes and stories, fixing anything, and sharing his love of the outdoors with others.
Mick peacefully passed away surrounded by family on June 15, 2024 after a brave battle with cancer. Though Mick is no longer with us on Earth, his spirit will forever echo in our hearts, reminding us to cherish each moment and hold tight to the bonds of family.
Mick is survived by his wife Barb, children Katie (Stannon) Cords and Chad Erickson. Grandchildren Peyton Erickson, Haley and Zac Cords. Sister Betty (Ron) Beier, brother Ted (Molly) Erickson, sister-in-law Nanette Erickson. Sister-in-laws Brenda (Dave) Wacker, Linda Perry (Randy), Donna (Doug) Peterson. Numerous nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his parents, parents-in-law Don and Geri Perry, brother Jack Erickson, sister-in-law Marie Erickson, and brother-in-law Gregg Smith.
